9pm, at the Ecomusée du Pays de la Cerise
Tarantelle Del Rimorso
Music and song from Puglia
Pino De Vittorio, voice and battente guitar.
Marcello Vitale, classical and battente guitars.
Leonardo Massa, calascione.
Gabriele Miracle, percussion.
For more than forty years, Pino de Vittorio has been surveying the musical landscapes of his native Southern Italy like an archaeologist, bringing back to life with incomparable charisma and expressive power old songs, popular and traditional, sacred and secular: pizzica taranta and other tarantellas.
Considered one of Italy's greatest singers - musician, Bel Canto singer, Baroque tenor and soprano, actor - the man who is also known as the "Shaman of Apulia" is above all an ardent defender of a culture attached to its roots...
In his show Tarentelle del Rimorso, Pino de Vittorio recreates the atmosphere, the improvisations and the sense of sacredness of the ceremonies of possession and healing linked to the bite of the tarantula.
A journey of initiation through poignant, rousing songs. Pino de Vittorio exalts the innate possibilities of this music with his expressive vocal power.
