At 9 pm, in the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul.
Around the Magnificat and Marian music in the 18th century.
Emmanuel Arakélian, historical organ.
Julien Freymuth, countertenor.
Based on the hymn Ave Maris Stella by Nicolas de Grigny, this concert focuses on Marian music rooted in the tradition of Gregorian chant. The Reformation left room for Marian evocations. The Magnificat, Meine Seele erhhebt den Herren in choral form, is also widely commented on by all Germanic composers. In the second half, the first aria of the Cantata Vergnügte Ruh, beliebte Seelenlust and organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach will be the highlights of an intensely emotional journey.
A programme of breathtaking depth!
