Established in a distillery that was in operation until 1978, the Ecomusée du Pays de la Cerise (Cherry Country Ecomuseum) retraces, through its buildings and collections, the history and techniques of the distillation and cultivation of the cherry tree in the Fougerolais region.
It bears witness to 150 years of distillation, sales and cherry know-how. The visit begins in front of the imposing mansion and guides the public to meet the families who have learned to master the surprising alchemy of transforming the fermented fruit into a crystalline liquid: kirsch. From harvesting to bottling, from the stills to the attic, the visitor discovers all the secrets of cherry production.
