With the help of Alpen and Tandem Animaux, the FSDS CUP 2024 will take place on 6 and 7 April. The 35 best Border Collies will be competing for the title of French National Champion. A rigorous selection process has been carried out beforehand to select the best dogs, some of whom took part in the last World Championship...
Each dog will have to lead a batch of ewes along a course set by the international judge, Frauke Spengler, who has come specially from Germany for the occasion.
The competition will take place over 2 days: the semi-final on Saturday 6 April and the final on Sunday, with the top 25 dogs competing on a more challenging course.
The aim of the competition is to test a dog's ability, working as part of a team with the handler, to correctly manage the ewes in the various circumstances encountered during the day's work. Hence the various tests, such as searching, driving, separating, penning and single-handling, tasks that may be encountered on a daily basis by the breeder or shepherd.
These tests help to achieve the FSDS's main objective: to promote and encourage the breeding, training and improvement of working sheepdogs and thus ensure the best possible management of livestock.
Don't hesitate to come along with your family to admire the work of these extraordinary dogs on the Val de Bithaine grounds from 8.30am to 5pm.
You can picnic on site, with tables and benches available under cover.
