Here is humour that takes the edge off! A gritty comedy about our society as seen by Marius van Mayenburg, which leads us to laugh at ourselves in spite of ourselves. A couple from the most privileged socio-professional category, financially well off. She is interested in art and makes a big fuss about a plastic artist (who has a nice figure, by the way... is that really a negligible detail?), thus buying herself a good conscience in favour of the defence of art. He, more of a primate, is attracted to the maid, sorry, the cleaning lady (who is also rather good looking... but isn't this attraction to the lower classes unnatural?), whom the couple have just hired to look after their slightly obese and obsessed child...
The play takes place in the living room of their plush flat. The child on his console is enjoying his parents' lack of interest by stuffing himself with sweets. Is this really fiction? The artist, on the other hand, has (necessarily) brilliant and cheeky ideas, if not sincere, and poses as a modern Tartuffe in search of a muse.
A modern and contemporary comedy to be taken at second degree to laugh (yellow) at first degree.
