Scenes of sleep, dreams and slumber abound in the lyric tragedies, cantatas and instrumental pieces of the French Baroque. They employ figurative orchestrations and transport the listener into a marvellous world.
The music lulls the listener into a sense of the sweetness of falling asleep, then of the numbness that leads to sleep. A poetic wandering through drowsy musical masterpieces...
Dreamlike!
