"Under the Foliage of Ages" offers guided outings, events and talks to help you discover nature from a cultural angle, with a special focus on the myths and legends surrounding flora and fauna.
Man has always had a close relationship with nature, based on observation and belief, attraction and fear, love and fascination. We draw on it for the elements of our imagination and attach powerful, coherent symbolism to the different plant and animal species that surround us, symbolism that can be found in both ancient mythology and contemporary culture.
The activities on offer will take you on an exploratory journey to the heart of the wild imagination, from ancient epics such as the Iliad and the Eddas to contemporary works such as Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.
A naturalist and historian by training, specialising in the cultural history of plants, Pablo Behague is also a writer. A keen reader of literature, he is the author of several fantasy novels, as well as specialist works on the imaginary world of nature. A book dedicated to the cultural history of the oak will soon be published by Delachaux et Niestlé.
