Mr Linh is a tired old man who has fled his war-torn country. Here he is, at the end of a harrowing crossing, disembarking in a Western port with a modest boiled-leather suitcase at his feet and his little daughter, Sang diû, in his arms. A name that means "sweet morning".
But it is a bitter cold that greets the exile and the little girl. It takes the man on the bench and his deep voice to make Mr Linh's life meaningful again. A strange friendship develops between the two men. One speaks, the other listens. They understand each other, not with words but with their hearts. And a little something rips through the greyness, until ...
